A song of hope, Kanabi Kanibizu's first song, “Sakura No Me”, speaks of the eyes of Sakura which are always watching, even in the winter. The song is a poem written in Japanese that was created as something to hang onto when things seem like all is lost. The strength in knowing that although we don’t understand everything, we are here, and the end of a cycle brings a fresh start.
I really enjoyed using the Taiko Drums for this song. Takes me back to the first time I got to play them while in Tokyo. So much fun!
Lyrics:
さくらの目 (sakura no me)
すべてが (subete ga)
見える (mi e ru)
さ冬にも (sa fuyu ni mo)
"The eye’s of Sakura see everything, even in the winter."

I love Japan. I lived there for only six months, but I will never forget the experience I had living there. The food was amazing, the people were so nice, and everything was so clean. The metro bathrooms were cleaner than most restaurant bathrooms here in the U.S.
Taking the metro during rush hour was intense. The Pushers, cramming as many people into the train as possible; me, getting my umbrella stuck inside the door as it opened, do to the pressure from everyone behind me keeping me hard pressed against the door. My umbrella was very gimpy after that, snapped in half. Many pushers came to help because I was basically being trampled, while caught to the door. You know the little string/rope part that dangles at the end of an umbrella? Well I had that around my wrist. So I was trapped and it was making it hard for people to get through the door. They were not happy with me.
I could go on and on about my stories in Japan. As I create more songs by Kanabi Kanibizu, I will probably share some more. Have you ever been to Japan? If so, what are your favorite memories from your visit(s)?
